My name is Destiny Williams, though you can call me Dede.

 

I was born in 2000; London born and bred. Now I am self-employed as a professional Makeup Artist and Jewellery Designer; founder of ‘The Dede Look’.

 

At the tender age of 14, I commenced her fashion career by working as a stylist assistant for celebrity fashion stylist Denise Brown. This is where I learnt and refined her skills in fabric manipulation and customisation. My knowledge was then further developed through the attending of prestigious events such as London Fashion Week, Pure London and multiple other African based festivals before age 16! This is where my lust for life and influence of surrounding subcultures such as Punk Rock, Heavy metal, Hip-Hop culture and Afro-Futurism developed personality and sense of style. Even though I faced many challenges in her mid-teens such as living in poverty and mental health, still strived and persevered by eventually attending prestigious events and markets as a pop-up Sole Trader.maintained a positive outlook on life.

 

The Dede Look is an upcoming fashion accessory brand, based in London. Specialising in African and Alternative  inspired unique Jewellery with unisex head-ties, handmade to perfection by myself. An agenda of mine is to heighten the acknowledgement of African history and to highlight the importance of inspirational women of colour. As well as promoting self expression and creativity. This is executed through the many captivating colours of my wax prints used, where many are sourced from the motherland itself. I have individually named all African Wax print fabrics used after inspirational black women throughout history;past and present. I welcome individuals of all cultures, sexualities and ages to continue my brand’s legacy.
